Summer Schedule & Repertoire

UPDATE: 6/29/17: Please note some time changes: the Park Vista concert on July 11 begins at 6:00 pm, not 7 as originally listed; and the Buhl Park concert on July 26 begins at 6:30. Our next event is the Winds at the Winery event on July 9 at Mastropiétro Winery. Guest bands will be performing throughout the day starting at 1 pm; our performance begins at 6. We still need some volunteers throughout the afternoon, so contact Alice Cooley if you can help. Also note that there is no rehearsal next Tuesday due to the 4th of July holiday.

Summer has arrived and we will begin our outdoor concerts next week with our opening performance on the green in Canfield. Concerts are scheduled throughout June, July, and August and there will be only a couple of rehearsals in between. Download a printable schedule here and always check our upcoming events page for updated information. Rehearsal dates that are posted are tentative, but will most likely be confirmed as they appear now.

Special Events

On June 27th, we will give our annual performance at Austintown Park, kicking off the 4th of July festivities for Austintown. We will conclude that concert with a special performance of "The Stars and Stripes Forever" featuring a large group of piccolo players from around the region. So far we have around 50 and we are hoping for more, so spread the word.

On July 9th, we will be hosting the second annual Winds at the Winery Community Band Festival. Last year's event was a great success and all involved had a wonderful time. This year, the event is taking place on a Sunday afternoon and we will have more bands.

And our friends in the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band have invited us to play a concert with them in Boardman Park on July 30. Both bands will play a set and a picnic will follow.

Other Schedule Notes

We will not be performing in Columbiana on July 4th this year due to timing conflicts. Enjoy your holiday! Our usual appearance at the Canfield Fair has not yet been scheduled, but we are still considering it as an option. We will get information about that to you as soon as possible. If we do play that concert, it will probably be at the usual time and place in the historical village on Sunday afternoon,  and there may be an additional rehearsal added sometime in August to prepare for it.

Summer Uniform

Our new uniform shirts have arrived and will be distributed at rehearsal this week. For the benefit of newer members and as a reminder to older members, attire for our summer concerts will be the new red polo shirts with the band logo, black pants, black shoes and socks. New members who do not have an official band shirt yet can wear any red shirt, ideally a solid color polo style. In the absence of red, white will work as well. On especially warm days, black short may be worn instead of pants.

There is one exception to the summer uniform: as was the case at last year's Austintown Park concert, the fireworks committee has created special t-shirts for the Austintown 4th of July celebration and they will be providing one for every member of the band for use at the July 27th concert. That is the only time we will use this special t-shirt and all other performances will require our normal summer uniform.

Most of our summer repertoire has been distributed. If you are missing anything from your folder, please contact the librarians. We have added reference recordings of most of the music to a YouTube playlist available here.
